Tasting Notes
Fresh strawberry and red plum lead off in the aroma of this wine. Smooth and juicy on the palate, highlighting creamy red cherry, this Pinot shows complex hints of earth and spice. The finish wraps up with balance and a graceful texture.

Production Notes
After several years of drought, the 2016 vintage welcomed much needed rains. Bud-break was a bit early due to the prior drought years, and coupled with the rains, resulted in small and intensely flavored berries. Two brief heat spikes interrupted an otherwise steady and moderate summer, punctuated by a cool August, all of which allowed the fruit an extended ripening period.
Winemaker Notes
Our iconic Sonoma winemaker Don Van Staaveren, honored by Wine Spectator in 2000 for producing the number one wine among its "Top 100 Wines of the World," crafted this delicate Pinot Noir from the cool climate of Carneros, the gateway to Sonoma Valley. Don, who began his career managing vineyards, earned acclaim as winemaker at Chateau St. Jean, Artesa, and Three Sticks wineries.
