2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, Anderson Ranch
Tasting Notes
Rich ripe scents of blackberry, black plum, and red cherry combine in the complex, inviting nose of this Cabernet Sauvignon. In the mouth, the wine is round and plush, offering ample flavors of loganberry, blackberry and curran with a dash of mocha on a fleshy and persistent finish.

Anderson Ranch Vineyard
Vineyard Notes
Grapes for our flagship wine are grown in a unique vineyard on our home ranch, where tightly spaced head-trained, spur-pruned vines cling to the contours of a steep, 700-foot hillside. These slopes require farming completely by hand. This bowl-shaped site enjoys optimum south-southwest exposures and offers views of Sonoma Mountain and the distant Berkeley Hills. Well-drained soils vary from thick and rocky to more fertile, and contribute modest yields with a full array of flavors.
Production Notes
The 2012 vintage was one of the more idyllic growing seasons on record. The warm days and cool nights continuing into late September allowed fruit to ripen evenly and slowly, with a long hang-time providing maturity and complexity.
Winemaker Notes
Our iconic Sonoma winemaker Don Van Staaveren, honored by Wine Spectator in 2000 for producing the number one wine among its "Top 100 Wines of the World," crafted this elegant blend of Bordeaux varieties. Don, who began his career managing vineyards, earned acclaim as winemaker at Chateau St. Jean, Artesa, and Three Sticks wineries.
